Van Tongeren Kennemer was founded in 1893 by Martinus Witkamp. During the first couple of years, the company manufactured bycicles. in Later years, cars and motorcycles were added.
During the 1920s, the company specialised in manufacturing Fans and blowers. The name was changed to “Kennemer Machinefabriek” (Kennemer Machine factory) and in the early 1940s, the company started to work in close cooperation with “Ingenieursbureau van Tongeren” (Engineering Office Van Tongeren)
The 1930s again brought a namechange, this time to “Kennemer Luchtbehandeling” (Kennemer Air-Treatment). Specialized in equipment in the field of dust treatment, such as cyclones and odour filters. Segment cutting machines, scissor lifts and large fans were also manufactured.
In 1991 “Kennemer Luchtbehandeling” and “Ingenieursbureau van Tongeren” merged, thus establishing Van Tongeren Kennemer B.V.. Engineering and production finally came together under the same roof.
The company moved to a new, modern building in 1994. At Van Tongeren Kennemer, modern equipment, up-to-date expertise and more than 110 years of engineering and production experience meet in one company. Van Tongeren Kennemer may count companies with sounding names from food, chemical and petrochemical industries among its customers.
An important part of “Spaans bulk handling Systems BV” from Hoofddorp, whose screw conveyors are known all over the world, was included in the group in 2004.
